April is stress awareness month, here are some tips on how to relieve stress!

April is stress awareness month, for which I have written an article for Marie Claire magazine on chronic stress. This is a dangerous state where stress becomes accepted as a way of life. Relaxation, the antidote to stress is definitely one of the pillars of health that is often overlooked.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There’s plenty of evidence on how stress and relaxation affect different body systems. Chronic stress for example adversely affects gut health, fertility, immunity and energy.

My top tip would be to schedule relaxation time and then do what you love with it. If you leave it to spontaneity, there’s a chance it’ll get lost in your to do list. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Things you can do to relax include music, hot bath, meditation, mindfulness, therapy, journaling etc

I will also dedicate this months’ posts on my instagram page @dr.houdaounnas to stress relief. So, if you’d like to learn more and begin your journey of healing from stress, follow me on there!

I can also help individuals and businesses with one to one work. As an individual, you can come and see me for a consultation. Being triple trained as a GP, Occupational Health physician as well as in psychotherapy, I can certainly help you with stress using a 360 approach. We will look at stress from different perspectives. With my Occupational Health hat on, I can help you with work related stress. With my psychotherapy hat on, I can help you with relationships stress. With my GP hat on, I can help you reducing the risks of stress on your physical and mental health, including risks of high blood pressure, hormone turbulence and stress induced reduced immunity.

I can also help organisations create healthier work places through either consultancy services, direct consultations offered to your employees or as a visitor delivering seminars or webinars to your organisations’ staff to keep them healthy and reduce stress levels. Hence, dramatically decrease sick leave days, complaints, risk of litigation and presenteeism. Instead, this should help increase productivity and create a healthy stress free work place, which in turns should increase revenue, employee retention and business longevity and viability.
